Life, Just Life

I past two times I've gone to Physical Therapy these two conversations have happened with guys who are probably around the age 50-65. One is a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan with a thick Chicago accent, and the other is a black business man with an earring in his ear. Both are friends I've made this time around in Physical Therapy:

Monday (just finished running and ab workout, sweaty and red-faced, ready for ice)
J: Natalie, Come here for a second...
N: I probably smell...
J: No problem, Are you training for the Olympic team or something?
N: (laughing) No!
J: What are you working out so hard for then?
N: Life, just life
J: You work out harder than any girl I've ever seen, I thought you for sure would have to be training for something
N: oh no, just recovering from surgery

Thursday (doing the agility ladder)
H: (Walks over to me) Are you a professional athlete?
N: hahaha NO!
H: oh man, I thought I needed to get your autograph or something
N: Nope, not a professional athlete at all
H: It looks like you could be one with how you do the ladder and your exercises
N: Well, if you want my autograph i'll give it to you anyways
H: (laughs) So what are you training for?
N: Life
H: Wow, that's good. Keep it up kid.
I hear him in the distance talking to my therapist
H: She is SO good
Therapist: Yeah, She's a Pro.

I guess hard work always pays off in the end.. eh?

deep

I found this today in a book I'm reading, it's such a good quote! I love it! :)

"We carry around in our heads these pictures of what our lives are supposed to look like, painted by the brush of our intentions. It's the great, deep secret of humanity that in the end none of our lives look the way we thought they would. As much as we wish to believe other otherwise, most of life is a reaction to circumstances."

dogs bite, bee sting.

Everyone has their weird little favorite things, some are more elaborate than others, and some more simple, some are when the dogs bite and bees sting. When you get to enjoy your favorite things don't you just feel so pleased? I've decided that I have some weird quirks that I just love.
Here are a few of my favorite things....
- Being the first to open and use a jar of peanut butter. I don't know what it is about the first swipe on the knife, but it's just soft, creamy, and looks perfect.
- Running. Since I haven't been able to a lot this summer I've realized why I miss it. It's the time in the day where my mind can just wander. Yes, I realize some people hate, despise, won't even do it. But really try it ONCE more, and let your mind wander. Some of my best ideas have come from running alone. And if you don't live in torturous heat, try running outside. (much more enjoyable than on a treadmill)
- Listening to Delilah on the radio as I fall asleep. For those who don't know who Delilah is, she comes on at 7-12 p.m. and people call in and dedicate love songs to there loved ones. I know, I know, SO cheesy! But I love it. It makes me relaxed as I listen to the love songs playing softly on my radio as I drift into dreams.
- Hearing my favorite song over and over. I always go through a stage and I have one favorite song and that is almost ALL I listen to. It plays on my iTunes repetitively and somehow I never do get sick of it. It's just one of those things that plays and I get excited to listen to my favorite part or the chorus!
- Opening a toothpaste tube. Undoing the perfectly placed lid. Sliding it across my toothbrush to make for a picture perfect toothbrush. The first used toothpaste always tastes better, looks better because there is no dried up toothpaste on the sides. Lovely.
- Listening to someone tell a intense story over and over. Every time it get better because they use more descriptive words, new ways to tell it, and usually they are over the initial intense factor and just can laugh about it to make for always a better story!
LAST ONE:
- Laughing until I cry and my stomach hurts. It's one of the greatest joys in life. Nothing can live up to it.

What are your favorite things?

...fireworks...

I was thinking tonight how fun it would be to be in Washington D.C. for the big 4th of July parade and everything like my family was about 7 years ago! We got all the hook ups with the parade because we know the guy who is in charge of it! It was such a memorable experience! The 4th of July is really a great holiday when you stop and think about it. Independence day. Our freedom to make blog posts like this one, freedom to dress how we'd like, freedoms to voice our opinion. America is great! HAPPY 4th OF JULY!
