verano no mas

So yesterday was the first day of my 3rd year at Utah State University.

Can I just say I was officially reminded my summer was over by the snow on top of the mountains that fell yesterday.
Yes, I am serious. not even funny.
i was not a happy camper until about 2:00pm when I got home and changed out of my wet shoes, damp jacket,
and left the "wet dog" smelling classrooms on campus.

but today is much better. the sun is shining.
the hustle and bustle to class is filled with chatter instead of jumping puddles.
i've already walked up and down the Old Main stairs twice today.
my turkey sandwich with avacado, spinach, and red pepper was BOMB.COM
my house I am living in is pretty rad. (pictures to come soon)
the girls in my house are even radder. (is that a word?)
i get to take an institute class from the BEST teacher starting tomorrow.
tons of people will speak to me in Spanish here at school. and I enjoy it tons.
old friends have been reconnected with.
new friends are in the making.
tonight is "outdoor movie night on the quad."

Utah is doing me well.
i really love school.
it makes me smarter.
i just wish i had recess at 10:00 am every morning.

where did summer go?
I leave AZ tomorrow.
I say goodbye to my friends tonight.
I said goodbye to family last night.
I packed my car this morning.
Got my "goodbye" pedicure with mom.

but,

tomorrow my body temperature might drop.... finally.
I get to see other friends.
I move into my new house.
start school in one week from today.
i will attend poetry and a beverage, ASAP.

.peace and love.

i hate packing.

especially when i am leaving something i have grown to love so much.
I mean, I've always loved AZ. it's where my heart is.
but this summer has been different.
I have really "lived it up" this summer.
i don't think a day has gone by where i haven't enjoyed it at least a little bit.
and most the days i've enjoyed it alot.

i've loved my job.
i have learned something everyday.
i have met so many people with so many different stories.
my communication skills have improved because of it.
its made me realize even more that body and health is SO important.

i love my friends i have here.
they are always up to doing something, even if it's just chillin.
i have made some great friends and developed relationships with them
that i hope don't go away once i leave.

i enjoy being by the family.
there is always a party or something going on when the family is together.
I'm going to miss birthdays, baptisms, holidays, sister nights, and yummy food.
but i know family is always there with me wherever i go.

However,

I am excited to get to Logan.
I haven't seen some of my best friends for over 9 months!
That's a whole pregnancy people.
quite a long time.
I just know it's going to be a grand reunion when we reunite.
I'm looking forward to school, my house, the people, and fall weather.

So, like i said. I hate packing.
but it makes it easier to leave, when i LOVE the place i'm going.

Isn't she just gorgeous? I am honored to be friends with such a beautiful lady.
This is my friend Brooke. We met at USU our freshman year, at church.
We became immediate friends once we figured out we were both 6'0 tall.
Last time I saw brooke was April 2009. yes, that long ago.
We have talked, texted, skyped, and emailed often.
But nothing will be like a face to face conversation.
(especially because i don't have to look down)
I am lucky enough to be reunited with Brooke in 16 days.
She is taking off to Spain in Septemeber until December.
So i find myself SO lucky to be able to see her before then.

Brooke is one of those friends that once you have,
you NEVER want to get rid of.
she's basically just awesome.
I love Brooke Shoko and CAN'T wait to see her.
Hasta Ver Brooke.
