leave a message after the beeeeeeeep.

So I'm pretty sure that everyone has at one point in there life hung up the phone and said "That was the stupidest message EVER!" It is the worst, you wish somehow you could break into the persons phone and erase it and leave a whole new one. Well, last week sometime, I had to call a member of my bishopric to tell him I can't talk because I'll be out of town the weekend he wanted me to. So I called after FHE on monday night and it was ringing and ringing and no answer, and suddenly I realized I was leaving a message. Honestly, the worst message of my life. Instead of being "I am calling to let you know I can't speak in church on the 28th, because I don't have to work so I am gonna go with my family to Utah. Let me know if we can reschedule. Bye." I said something along the lines of.... "I'm just calling to tell you that I can't speak the sunday you wanted me to, uhh... Give me a call back and I'll tell you why. Thanks, Bye."
Call me back and I'll tell you why..... Who Am I? Some mysterious person who needs to personally explain the 2 second story. It was the worst.
Luckily he called me back while I was at work the next day and  left a message on my machine so I didn't have to talk to him. He just said, "Thanks for letting me know, We can reschedule some other time... blah blah blah." No big deal for him, right!
I kinda wish the old old days were back when no one even used answering machines or called ID, then there would be no screening calls, it's either you answer or you don't. No freaking out if the boy you likes name pops up on the screen. You have to just call back and keep trying to catch them if they don't answer. No 5 minute messages explaining unnecessary stories.  No calling people back. No stupid messages left on someone else's machine!
Sometimes the old days just seem SO much simpler!

but seriously......your message to him...soo funny!! i love it. "Call me back and I'll tell you why". CLASSIC.

I hate messages too...leaving them and even retrieving them from voicemail most of the time!

Don't you just cringe when you leave one of those messages and you know you can't get it back before the person listens to it?
Yes, life was much simpler without all the gadgets. Don't know if I liked life better then or now????
Hmmmm.....

Oh, I've definatly left my fair share of stupid messages. At least you said for him to call you back if he wanted to know. I usually just start rambling and then realize after a minute or so that they don't care about the details of my life and wished I'd given them the option of just calling me back...take this post for an example. :)
